James Rizzi is known world-wide for his fun, 3-D pop art collages paintings, that seem to mesmerize audiences of all ages. The Rizzi Process... Over the years, through experimentation, James Rizzi has further refined and perfected the process of 3-D construction as artwork. His multi-step process starts with an ink drawing on a large sheet of paper. Then he hand colors the drawing. This color drawing and a color-coded black and white duplicate are sent to his printer who returns several proofs for refinement. The printer collaborates with Rizzi on exact specifications and finally prints two identical silkscreens for each final edition piece. Then Rizzi cuts the elements from one of the prints and affix them with double-sided foam tape to its twin on the base print thus creating the 3-D construction. And voila... a Rizzi original is born! www.JamesRizzi.com
Renate Aller is a world renown photographer. She has travelled the world documenting and investigating the human body and the space we occupy. Studying and mastering her craft in London, she has earned numerous prestigious awards from The British Council. Renate has also had solo and group exhibitions in The United States, England, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Hong Kong, Turkey, Rio de Janeiro and Finland. Most recently she received a lot of kudos for her work documenting the September 11th, 2001 terror attacks in New York City. Renates compassion for those affected, was strongly portrayed by the powerful photos she took in the aftermath of the events. Maybe that led Renate to her newest series of work... seascapes. She says I feel that the sense of foreboding, luminous clouds with no presence of humans, reflects our deepest fears of chaos and war. All the photos are taken from exactly the same location, at different points in time. Upcoming photographer and artist Justin Menendez, has a great eye and a unique talent to distribute color evenly throughout a photograph. He has the ability to capture the essence of everyday objects that he believes people take for granted and turns them into beautiful works of art. He has spent years working outdoors in the landscape design industry. This time with nature has given Justin his base for developing his signature style of photography. "Plant life is natural beauty. Mother Nature's own sculptures that grow and change with each season" says Menendez. This self-taught photographers passion is photographing beautiful flowers and plants. Justins unique photographic technique is focusing on one tiny aspect of the flower, making the rest become abstract and obscured. His use of positive and negative space is simply striking. Creativity is a way of life for Justin, as art in all forms has always been an emotional outlet for him. He says "My favorite work tends to be the more simplistic photographs. I find them to be more relaxing and tranquil". Photography is his main area of concentration, but he is also a talented illustrator, sculptor and painter. www.JustinMenendez.com Yvonne Daggers abstract paintings of New York City street scenes, are rich with color and texture, symbolizing the multi-cultural society that New York City is. Painting for almost all her life, Yvonnes paintings and drawings reveal the way she perceives life. The work is an invitation, calling on viewers to examine everyday moments, experiences and emotions. There is an expressiveness to each piece of art that allows the viewer to enter into the her vision of the world. In Yvonnes paintings, she composes a paradox of loose and subtle yet thick and deliberate strokes touched by nuanced delicacies. She is intensely aware of the myriad of ways that mere pigment can take on life. The juxtaposed color and subtleties add richness and depth to each work of art. Her paintings evoke life. They engage you to see something in the ordinary that you had never seen before. Yvonnes
work has been recognized and displayed at Heckscher Museum in Huntington,
New York, is in the permanent collection of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast
Cancer Research Center and in galleries throughout the North East. She
has also received the Prudential Wheeler Award for the arts. To add
to her diversification, she has illustrated a textbook on astronomy. Originally from Minnesota, Shana Lahr moved to New York with a grant from the Central Minnesota Arts Board in 1996 to study fashion design at FIT. One year of sweat shop training convinced her that fashion design was not for her, however New York was. After dropping out of FIT, Shana became a bartender. Artist by day, bartender by night. Her art is inspired by the diversity of NYC, by it's never-ending night life, and by the vulnerable human condition. Shana has developed a style that is an edgy, comic book pop-art style. Her characters are full of girly, over accessorized sarcasm, and often mock the intoxicated antics of late night NYC. shanashay@earthlink.net Open bar compliments of XOteric, a sexy, new passion fruit flavored cognac in conjunction with The Lounge Group Promotions
